Meetings with U.S. Congressional Leaders to Discuss a U.S.-Egypt Free Trade Agreement

On April 24-26, the U.S.-Egypt Business Council, the American Chamber of Commerce, and Meredith Broadbent of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Egypt met with Senator John McCain (R-AZ), Representative David Dreier (R-CA), Representative Adrian Smith (R-NE), and Representative Kevin Brady (R-TX) to continue discussions regarding a U.S.-Egypt FTA and ways that the U.S. can help resolve Egypt’s debt crisis. House Rules Committee Chairman Dreier is the author of the House Resolution (H.Res. 472) which calls for the initiation of negotiations for the United States to enter in a free trade agreement with Egypt.
